Frymaster Gas Protector® Fryer Wins GFEN Blue Flame Product Of The Year Award

May 14th, 2008

SHREVEPORT, La. – As it is being introduced to the market, Frymaster, LLC’s new gas multi-efficiency Protector® fryer has received the Gas Foodservice Equipment Network’s (GFEN) Blue Flame award for foodservice product of the year.
The award will be presented May 17 at 9:00 a.m. at Frymaster’s booth number 2800 by GFEN’s chairman and executive leaders at the National Restaurant Association’s (NRA) Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, which is being held May 17-20 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Show attendees are invited to view both the electric and gas Protector fryers at Frymaster’s booth 2800.

“The Protector’s innovations are the result of thousands of hours of extensive research and design – not to mention just plain hard work and ingenuity – by a company that is committed to improving our customers’ bottom lines and their customers’ health,” said Brenda Fried, vice president of marketing for Frymaster, an Enodis company. “We are honored to receive the gas foodservice equipment industry’s highest new product award.
The gas Protector was chosen to receive the award by GFEN’s technical committee,. The judges evaluated the new product contest’s entries on several factors, including their economic impact, innovations and technology improvements.

Protector Brings High-Tech Innovation to Frying
First unveiled in an electric model in September 2007, Frymaster’s award-winning Protector fryer takes high-tech “smart” frying to the next level with innovative oil-, energy- and labor-saving features. Gas or electric, the 30-pound capacity Protector uses 40 percent less oil, yet delivers as much great-tasting food as a 50-pound frypot nearly twice  its capacity – all while posting industry-leading energy efficiency ratings that exceed federal ENERGY STAR® standards. The gas Protector earned a federal ENERGY STAR rating of 56.4 percent, near the top of its class among gas fryers, while the electric protector earned a class-leading 85.6 percent energy efficiency rating.

The Protector is setting a new industry standard for “smart” frying with several proprietary SMART4U® high-technology features that help to significantly extend the fryer’s oil life. The fryer automates and takes the guesswork out of tasks such as oil replenishment, refilling and filtering that can significantly shorten oil life if not managed properly. Its open-pot design allows for full access to the frypot – also making it easy to clean. In all, the Protector can extend oil life to up to four weeks, and generate an annual oil savings of over 50 percent – a considerable improvement over yesterday’s fryers.

All of these cost savings can help health-minded operators convert to healthier trans fat-free oils, reports Frymaster’s Fried. She also noted that Frymaster backs its fryers with the company’s Fit Frying Program, to help operators prepare the best fried options possible through equipment and technology solutions, and education.  For more information on Frymaster’s Fit Frying Program, visit www.fitfrying.com.
The Protector fryer is fully supported by Frymaster’s parent company’s Enodis STAR Service program, offering installation and start-up assistance as well as routine maintenance and repairs from a network of factory-trained and -certified service agents.
